2010 - 2011 Season
October 2011
Hampton Football Club's U7 Development Squad started weekly training sessions on Sunday 10th October when 20 boys and girls in school year two came along and enjoyed a football session in the autumn sunshine.
All the boys and girls enjoyed a session that worked on developing gross motor skills and introduced basic dribbling technique. The group will be introduced to a new technique each week before they start to play friendlies against other local teams in the new year.
The squad has also received a boost from Hegarty Solicitors who have agreed to sponsor the group and will be providing kits for two squads to play friendlies and tournaments in.
At the end of the session FA qualified coaches Kristian Rayner and Steve Purnell admitted that they were overwhelmed with the response to the introduction of the sessions and the pair went on to explain that their sessions were all about self discover because young players learn more through guided learning than from a dictator coaching approach.
The squad will continue training together on a weekly basis and will take part in local friendlies and tournaments during 2011.
